Wat ik je nog wilde zeggen
TENT Rotterdam

Re-opening on 19 Jan 2021

Language can help us make sense, provide space, or act as an invitation but it can also disrupt relationships, hinder, or hurt. Language can establish connections, but sometimes it puts us up against each another. ‘Wat ik je nog wilde zeggen’ is an exhibition about the poetry and the power of words; about shifting meanings, misconceptions and deception; about losing and finding words.
Initiated by Dean Bowen, Rotterdam city poet and curated by Rianne Zijderveld.

[蒸汽船] Steamboat is an ongoing research by three ArtScientists, Nele Brökelmann, Katarina Petrović and June Yu. Focusing on the methods and conditions for collective interdisciplinary making, we will initiate a series of events that take steam as the conceptual material and propose explorative methods on collective imagination and creation.

During the exhibition at Trixie The Hague, we are opening up the gallery space as a collective steam making plant. Every Saturday there will be workshops that you can register for, with a maximum amount of 6 participants. Together we will construct a world in which steam can exhibit its full conceptual potential. We will practice collective writing in its broadest sense, through different exercises, games and reading materials.

ruimteCAESUUR & Witte Rook
Middleburg, NL

[蒸汽船] Steamboat is an ongoing collaborative research by three artists that focuses on new explorative ways of making-together. Departing from a shared interest in support structures and how we could create one, we take the ‘steamboat’ as a metaphor, being a technology that facilitated global change and transformed world relations. We will present our research as an installation, website and a score to be performed together with the audience.

Isekle smo kablove [We Cut the Cables]
Muzej savremene umetnosti Vojvodine
[Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina]
Novi Sad, Serbia

WE CUT THE CABLES: Multimedia platform for female culture, activism and theory K.A.T.

Participants: Violeta Vojvodić Balaž, Darija Medić, Andrea Palašti, Ana Nedeljković, Monika Sigeti, Nataša Teofilović, Zorica Čolić, Katarina Petrović, Bojana Knežević, Isidora Pejović, Radmila Trebovac, Ana Stefanović, Vesna Manojlović

The exhibition Isekle smo kablove (We Cut the Cables) deals with the problematization of the media production from the female perspective. The title itself alludes to the analogue nature of the exhibition as the participants do not exhibit their works, but the replicas of the works in the analogue form (on the facade flags). Within the concept, next to the flags, texts are displayed, texts that problematize the experiences (personal, technical/technological, socio/cultural) the participants went through during the creation of their works. In this way the exhibition foregrounds the problems that arise (technical, financial, structural, system and institutional) during production of one media work and in that way, through a critical prism locates the focal points for discussion and for the struggle to improve the status of all those engaged in this kind of production.

Reading Residency
Stroom Den Haag

We have noticed a huge need among artists (and others) for a quiet place for regeneration, reflection, contemplation, and open-minded learning. This is why, in the period 2019-2020, we invite three artists per year to join a one-month Reading Residency in the Stroom library. The work of these international artists has an affinity with our collection of books and publications. We are furthermore looking forward to get an outsider's perspective, in order to gain new insights about the value of the library as a knowledge center for contemporary art and society.

From Noise to Signal (and back to noise again)
Realities of the Scripted
HfG Offenbach

The Hessian Theater Academy in Frankfurt, presents a summer semester lecture series with several artists and theoreticians from theatre, performance, choreography, film, music and digital art and their reflections on the Realities of the Scripted, the underpinnings and the remains of a performance.

Lecture: From Noise to Signal (and Back to Noise again)
In an outline of her recent practice, Katarina will trace the concept of creation as the mysterious moment of emergence. The moment of noise becoming a signal, a random disturbance becoming a meaningful information, the script becoming a reality, the words made flesh. Computation found in language, the magic technology of an executable code and the act of deep listening - all fundamentals to Katarina’s practice, will serve as examples and will open up the space for imaginative to become real and for the real to become imaginative again.

The exhibited art installations bring together teams and individuals who are willing to go beyond the scope of the traditionally defined disciplines and collaborate through fusing different areas of research and artistic expressions.

Organised by the Center for Promotion of Science in Belgrade, and held at two locations - Cervantes institute and the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade.

ArtScience Forum #2
Dissolving Method
ArtScience Interfaculty, Royal Academy of Art, The Hague

In light of exchanging methodologies between the two culture fronts, we have to wonder – why should science incorporate a different, less-strict method, namely that of the arts? Why should it use art to reinforce its way of working, when it is innately capable of laterality? Conversely, why should artists engage in ‘lab work’, scientific research and ‘non-artistic’ fields in general, where the efficiency and purposefulness of work is constantly brought into question?
Forum #2 Dissolving Method, aims to look into the questions above in more depth with two speakers of note who will share their own personal experiences and perspectives. Pek van Andel, a medical researcher and serendipitologist and Špela Petrič, scientific researcher and intermedia artist, both situate their practices on the fringes of lateral thinking. With them, we will inquire into methodological uncertainty, concurrently bringing in focus contingency and spontaneous order.
Moderators: Katarina Petrovic, Luke Boorman
